He was the person who actively took part in Mainpuri conspiracy as well as the kakori train Robbery conspiracy in the year 1918. Ram Prasad Bismil was against the rule of British Empire in India.
He was also a great patriotic poet. Ram, agyat and Bismil were known as his pen names which he used in Urdu and Hindi poetry. But he became popular with the last name “Bismil” only. He was also a member of arya samaj. He was highly inspired with swami Dayanand saraswathi and his book Satyarth prakash.
Also, he associated with Lala Har Dayal through Swami Somdev. Swami somdev was a great preacher of arya samaj. He was a member of Hindustan Republician association.
Early life of Ram Prasad Bismil
Bismil was born on 11th june1897 in shahjahanpur, united province, British India. His father was Murlidhar. Ram Prasad Bismil’s mother name was moolmati. He belongs to a religious Hindu family. Bismil went to moulvi for learning Urdu. He learnt hindi from his father. He wanted to join an English medium school and got admission in one of such school though his father was dissatisfied.
Revolutionary activities of Bismil
Bismil founded a revolutionary group with the name matrivedi, which means Altar of motherland. He met a school teacher whose name was Pt Geneda Lal Dixit. This meeting was organized by Som Dev. Pt Geneda Lal Dixit was associated with some influential dacoits in the territory.
Ram Prasad Bismil wanted to utilize the knowledge and authority of the dacoits in the armed revolution against the British Empire in India. Bismil published a pamphlet with the name Deshvasiyon ke nam Sandesh, which means “a message to countrymen”. He distributed the pamphlets along with the poetic composition of Mainpuri Ki Pratigya.
The matrivedi organization needs more funds to do several revolutionary works. In behalf of the organization Matrivedi, Bismil decided to collect funds for the operation of Indian freedom movement. In three separate occasions, matrivedi planned to conduct revolutionary activities for Indian national independence. As a result of this revolutionary work, criminal case was filed against many members of the revolutionary organization for the incident of mainpuri conspiracy.
Bismil in Kakori conspiracy
After the incident of mainpuri conspiracy, Pt Geneda Lal Dixit and bismil were announced as absconders by B.S Chris, Judiciary Magistrate of Mainpuri. The judgment came against all the members on 1st novemeber 1919. One of the popular revolutionary operations performed by Ram Prasad Bismil is kakori consipiracy.
As a member of Hindustan republican association, bismil executed the plan to rob the government treasury. On 9th august 1925, the number 8 down train travelling from shaharahanpur to lucknow was approaching the town of kakori which is at present in Uttar Pradesh. They planned to loot that specific train because the train was supposed to carry the money bags which belong to British government treasury. They looted a bag which contains the worth of 8000 rupees.
Death
The group captain bismil who organized Kakori conspiracy was arrested by british police. Ram Prasad bismil was sentenced to death by british police on 19th December 1927 at the age of 30.
