Joshi is a great Indian political figure who was a governor of Uttar Pradesh from 28th July 2009 till 24th June 2014. He was appointed as Lieutenant governor in Delhi in June 2004. He resigned from that post on being appointed as the governor of Meghalaya in April 2007. In October 2007, he was appointed as governor of Uttarkhand.
As an IPS of Uttar Pradesh he maintained good relationship with the two successive chief ministers, Mayavathi and Akilesh yadav. After two years in july 2009, Shri Banwari Lal Joshi served the people of Uttar Pradesh as a governor. Shri Banwari was a former IPS officer who has managed on gubernatorial assignment after another, but keep very low profile.
Personal life of Banwari Lal
He was born on 1st April 1934 at remote village of Choti Khatu, Nagaur District in Rajasthan. Shri Banwari Lal completed his education in Kolkata. He did his graduation from Scottish church college. He also obtained a degree in law from the University law college which is affiliated to university of Calcutta.
Professional life of Banwari
Joshi began his career in 1957. He decided to choose the profession of Indian police service after completing his studies. Shri banwari lal Joshi joined the Indian police service in Rajasthan. In 1962, he moved to the Govt of India. Shri Joshi worked in various sectors such as Industrial security, counterfeiting, Interpol, narcotics, united nation correctional work and Juvenile Delinquency.
He was engaged with these administrative sectors when he was associated with in Indian police service. He is a legend who has worked with several prime ministers including Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri apart from Nehru and Indira Gandhi. Banwari has also served his service to the ministry of External affairs. He got the post of first secretary in high commissions of India both at Islamabad and London. He was the head of chancery in the embassy of India at Washington.
Banwari’s political works
In order to get involved with social works, he took voluntary retirement from Indian police service in 1991. He engaged himself with various kinds of social activities. He started working as an advisor in large industrial group. He moved to United States of America in 1993 as the Director of two renowned American companies.
Simultaneous he was also involved with the California based NGO “foundation for excellence Inc” as an executive director. When he returned from USA, Banwari Lal joshi has been selected as the member of the Rajasthan state Human Rights commission. This position of work assigned to him is equivalent to a high court judge. He worked there for four years.
Resignation from the post of governor of Uttar Pradesh
On 17th june 2014, Banwari resigned his services from the post of governor of Uttar Pradesh. Banwari Lal was one of the longest serving governors in india who offered excellent service to the people as a governor of Uttar Pradesh. Banwari is an old family loyalist of Nehru – Ghandhi. He continued to do social service and he is associated with various social service groups and agencies.
